Perbedaan Tingkat Kematangan Sosial Pada Penderita Thalassemia Usia Prasekolah Dan Usia Sekolah

Thallasemia is defined as a genetic disparity that is characterized by a wide range of synthesis decreased α chain or ß chain of globin got abnormalities/changes/mutations in the alpha globin gene or the beta globin gene, so that the production of globin chains will decrease and cause erythrocytes cell have shorter period than normal erythrocytes. Thallasemia children had an impact on the child himself both physical and psychosocial. No development of social maturity is one of Thallasemia psychosocial effects on children. This research aimed to determine whether there are differences in the level of social maturity in patients Thallasemia preschool and school age. This research is an observational research with cross sectional analytic. The subjects of this study is that children thallasemia patients, who had been treated at Doctor Moewardi Hospital Surakarta and Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Semarang, which have become permanent patients, aged between 0-14 years with a total sample of 32 children where 16 children are preschool age (from 0 to 6.99 years) and 16 other children are school age (7 to 14 years). Measuring instrument applied to collect data in this study were Vineland social maturity scale. Vineland social maturity scale was used to gain social maturity score of the respondents were divided into three scoring categories (high, adequate, and low). Result of research from total 32 samples got at group of preschool age, 8 people (25%) with a high level of social maturity, 8 people (25%) with a sufficient level of social maturity, and there is no respondents with low levels of social maturity. While at school age group, got 1 person (3.125%) with a high level of social maturity, 10 people (31.25%) with a sufficient level of social maturity and 5 people (15.625%) with low levels of social maturity. Significance value for 0001 based on Mann Whitney test. From this research it can be concluded that there was a significant difference in terms of social maturity levels in patients Thallasemia preschool and school age.
