Every human being experiences the development stage. Each stage is characterized with the presence of certain challenge, called “crisis” ideally settled before individual moves to the next stage. Erikson (in Santrock, 2002) suggests that middle-age adult encounters significant life problem, generativity versus stagnancy in the seventh phase. The gays have different ways in coping with generativity from one to another. The sex workers’ gay will have different view from non-sex workers’ gay on generativity affected by, in addition to individual factor, environmental factor in which the non-sex workers’ gay will be required to produce and to develop something for the next generation. Meanwhile the sex workers’ gay will focus more on fulfilling his own needs and tends not to think about his next life. The objective of research is to find out generativity difference including commitment and behavior of generativity in sex workers’- and non-sex workers’ gay. The population of research is the gays belonging to Gessang community membership with 40-60 years age and working as sex workers’ and non sex workers’ consisting of 348 persons. The sample used consisted of 31 persons including 16 sex workers’ gay and 15 non-sex workers’ gays. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling. The data was collected using Loyola Generative Scale (LGS) and Generative Behavior Checklist (GBC). Technique of analyzing data used was non-parametric statistical one with mann-whitney test aided by SPSS for MS windows version 16 computer program. Considering the data analysis with commitment of generativity variance and mann-whitney tests, it is obtained the p value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), therefore there is a significant difference in commitment of generativity between the sex workers’ gay and non-sex workers’ gay, while the result of variance analysis on behavior of generativity provides p value of 0.384 (p > 0.05), therefore there is no a significant difference in behavior of generativity between the sex workers’-gay and non-sex workers’ gay. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a difference in commitment of generativity and there is no a difference in behavior of generativity. Keywords: Commitment of generativity, behavior of generativity, gay, sex workers’, non-sex workers’.
