Strategies of Karanganyar Tourism Office to Improve Tourism Promotion and Marketing

This final project report was written based on the job training which was done in Karanganyar Tourism Office within a month in February. The writer took one of the sections in Karanganyar Tourism Office which was the marketing and promotion section, as the subject to observe. The marketing and promotion section is a division that handles the problem related to marketing and promotion. This report discusess the promotion tools used by Karanganyar Tourism Office and also the marketing strategies of Karanganyar Tourism Office in introducing the Karanganyar Tourism to public. There are two kinds of promotion media which are used by Karanganyar Tourism Office namely printed media ( brochures, booklets, leaflets, magazines, and newspapers,) and electronic media ( internet, TV, and radio). This final project also describing the promotion efforts done by Karanganyar Tourism Office, such as having cooperation with other institutions, participating in Fairs and Festivals, and holding Tourism Ambassador event. From the discussion, it can be concluded that the marketing strategies done by Karanganyar Tourism Office are developing market segmentation, determining tourism target market, and developing marketing activity. The functions of Karanganyar Tourism Office in marketing are to promote the regional tourism of Karanganyar by using multimedia, to organize the cooperation and the coordination with tourism sectors in promoting and campaigning the Karanganyar tourism, to make the work schedule as the guidelines in doing the job of Karanganyar Tourism Office, and to manage the activity related to tourism promotion marketing at Karanganyar Tourism Office.
