Isah Iriawan, THE EFFECT OF TERAK ADDITIONAL TOWARD PAVING BLOCK COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH , Thesis. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. December, 2011. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the effect of terak additional with different varieties toward paving block compressive strength. (2) to find out the optimum percentage of terak additional to reach paving block maximum compressive strength. The method used in this study is experiment method; conducting an experiment to get a result which affirms the relations among the variables investigated. In addition, the variables which directly affect in this research are (1) bound variable: paving block press power as the result of terak addition varieties (2) free variable: terak addition varieties with percentage of 0%, 0,5%, 1%, 1,5% and 2%. Based on the result of the reseach, it can be concluded that: (1) the additional of terak to the paving block mixture, gives positive effect to the paving block compressive strength. The effect of terak addition toward paving block is significant, it means having directly proportional between terak addition and compressive strength produced.. (2) the additional of terak to the paving block mixture, the additional of terak to the paving block has not yet shown the optimum percentage. However, the varieties used in this reseach produced maximum compressive strength. The more terak added, the higher compressive strength produced. All the paving blocks in this research fulfilled the SNI-03- 0691-1996 requirement, quality class D. Normal variety without terak addition produced press power 14,28 MPa. The variety of terak addition in the percentage of 0,5 % produced compressive strength 15,82 Mpa. The variety of terak addition in the percentage of 1 % produced compressive strength 16,08 Mpa. The variety of terak addition in the percentage of 1,5 % produced compressive strength 16,8 Mpa. The variety of terak addition in the percentage of 2 % produced compressive strength 18,09 Mpa Keywords : terak, compressive strength and paving block.
