Hubungan Tingkat Pengetahuan Tentang Osteoporosis dengan Aktivitas Latihan Untuk Mencegah Osteoporosis pada Wanita Usia Premenopause

Introduction Osteoporosis is a systemic bone disease characterized by low bone mass and changes in the micro-architecture of bone. Osteoporosis often occurs during menopause so it is necessary to do the prevention of osteoporosis. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge degree about osteoporosis with exercise activity to prevent osteoporosis in premenopausal women. Methode This study was an analytical observational research with cross-sectional approach undertaken in March-June 2012. Fourty one subjects was choosen as sample according to purposive sampling methode. Validated questioner was used to measure the degree of knowledge on osteoporosis and exercise activities for the osteoporosis prevention. Measuring instrument was used questionaire of knowledge degree about osteoporosis and exercise activities for the osteoporosis prevention. The data statistically analyzed with Spearman Rank analysis uses SPSS Ver. 16.0 for Window. Result An average of 48.78% of respondents have a fairly good knowledge degree about osteoporosis, while 53.66% have a high enough behavior for osteoporosis prevention exercise activity. The statistical analysis showed a significant correlation of the degree of knowledge and execise activities for the osteoporosis prevention with p = 0.000, α = 0.05. The strength of correlation was indicated by ρ (rho) of 0.675. Conclusion This research showed positive relationship between the knowledge degree about osteoporosis with exercise activity for osteoporosis prevention in premenopausal women. The higher of one’s knowledge, the better of exercise activity for the osteoporosis prevention.
