Penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI) untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran biologi siswa kelas X9 SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2011/2012

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran
biologi ditinjau dari aspek performance guru dalam kelas, iklim kelas, sikap
ilmiah, dan motivasi belajar pada siswa kelas X9 SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta tahun
pelajaran 2011/ 2012.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang berlangsung
dalam 3 siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri atas 4 tahapan dasar yaitu perencanaan,
tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan
angket, lembar observasi, dan wawancara. Validitas data diukur dengan
menggunakan teknik triangulasi yaitu triangulasi metode dan triangulasi observer.
Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan lembar observasi
rata-rata prosentase capaian performance guru dalam kelas pada siklus I sebesar
83,33%, 96,67% pada siklus II, dan 96,67% pada siklus III. Iklim kelas pada
siklus I sebesar 77,34%, 94,53 pada siklus II, dan 96,87 pada siklus III. Sikap
ilmiah pada siklus I sebesar 61,72%, 72,66% pada siklus II, dan 81,25 pada siklus
III. Motivasi belajar pada siklus I sebesar 73,44%, 88,28% pada siklus II, dan
86,72% pada siklus III. Sementara berdasarkan angket, rata-rata prosentase
capaian indikator iklim kelas pada siklus I sebesar 82,62%, 83,54% pada silus II,
81,25% pada siklus III. Sikap ilmiah pada siklus I sebesar 75,66%, 74,71% pada
siklus II, dan 74,95% pada siklus III. Motivasi belajar pada siklus I sebesar
78,49%, 78,64 pada siklus II, 77,45% pada siklus III. Hasil wawancara siswa
dapat disimpulkan bahwa interaksi antarsiswa dan siswa dengan guru meningkat
dan menjadikan iklim kelas menjadi lebih kondusif saat pelaksanaan tindakan.
Sikap ilmiah terbentuk melalui kegiatan penyelidikan dan diskusi kelompok
dalam memecahkan masalah. Siswa juga termotivasi untuk belajar dengan
pembelajaran berdasarkan masalah, minat terhadap masalah meningkat, siswa
juga merasa pembelajaran selam tindakan merupakan kegiatan yang menarik.
Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan model pembelajaran Problem
Based Instruction (PBI) dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran biologi
ditinjau dari aspek performance guru dalam kelas, iklim kelas, sikap ilmiah, dan
motivasi belajar pada siswa kelas X9 SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta tahun pelajaran
2011 / 2012
This research aims to improve learning quality of biology considered by
teacher performance in the class, classroom climate, scientific attitude, and
learning motivation of student in class X9 SMA 5 Negeri Surakarta in academic
year 2011/2012
This research was a classroom action research and performed in 3 cycles,
every cycle consists of 4 step, namely planning, action, observation, and
reflection. The data was collected in four method, namely quetionnaire,
observation, and interview. Tha data was validated by triangulation method and
triangulation observer. The analyzed teknic used descriptive.
The result of this research showed that according observation sheet the
average precentage of teacher performance had been improved from 83,33% in
cycle I, to 96,67% in cycle II and ended up by 96,67% in cycle III. The classroom
climate had been improved from 77,34% in cycle I, to 94,53% in cycle II and
ended up by 96,87% in cycle III. The scientific attitude had been improved from
61,72% in cycle I, to 72,66% in cycle II and ended up by 81,25% in cycle III. The
learning motivation had been improved from 73,44% in cycle I, to 88,28% in
cycle II and ended up by 86,72% in cycle III. While according to quetionnaire the
average precentege of classroom climate indicator had been improved from
82,62% in cycle I, to 83,54% in cycle II and ended up by 81,25% in cycle III. The
scientific attitude had been improved from 75,66% in cycle I ,74,71% in cycle II,
to 74,95% in cycle III. The learning motivation had been improved from 78,49%
in cycle I to 78,64% in cycle II and 77,45% in cycle III
The result of ths research according to interview to student showed that
interaction between students and between student and teacher were more
conducive. The scientific attitude was built from group investigation and
discusion to solve problem. The student get motivation to study based on problem,
interested to problem and activity. The conclusion of research describes that the
the aplication of problem based instruction (pbi) learning model to improve
quality of biology learning considered by teacher performance in the class,
classroom climate, scientific attitude, and learning motivation student in class X9
SMA 5 Negeri Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.
