Communication Channels In Pt. Pln (Persero) Apj Surakarta

This final project was written based on the job training which was done in PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Surakarta from January 2th to 31th, 2012. The data of this report were gained by doing interview and observation in PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Surakarta. The writer did some jobs along with the Public Relations Officer of PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Surakarta by helping him in media coverage for these company, attending events, going to meet journalists, visiting radio stations and units of PLN in some cities (accompanied by Public Relations Officer), etc. The objectives of the present study are to evaluate communication channels, especially CSR activity (P3L Program) and personal presentation in PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Surakarta based on the existing condition, and to propose improvement in the existing communication channels (personal presentation) in this company. Personal presentation as one of communication channels is less effective because even though the use of personal presentation has achieved its purpose, but not all people know the P3L program from PLN. Thus, the writer suggests the proposal to improve the effectiveness of the socialization for the society and to make the P3L program more effective. The proposals are to conduct the socialization about P3L program in radio shows, increase the budget amount for P3L Program, and to hold a meeting at the office of all units of PLN in each city. Hopefully, this final project report can be a reference for the Public Relations Officer of PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Surakarta to know more about job descriptions of Public Relations, make personal presentation as effective channels, and use the existing communication channels more effectively.
