This study is designed (1) to identify the techniques of translation of non-restrictive appositives in an economic book entitled an Outline of the U.S. Economy and (2) to describe the translation quality in terms of the accuracy and acceptability. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. In collecting the data, purposive sampling was applied. There are two types of data in this research; non-restrictive appositives found in the book an outline of the U.S. economy and translation quality assessments from three raters. The methods of data collection were gain through content analysis and distributing questionnaires. The data analysis was conducted through identifying the translation techniques and evaluating the translation accuracy and acceptability. The finding of the analysis on the translation techniques reveals that there are nine types of translation techniques applied by the translators. They are (1) transference/pure borrowing, 21 data or 17.10%; (2) naturalization, 4 data or 3.25%; (3) shifts/transposition, 9 data or 7.30%; (4) recognized translation, 1 datum or 0.80%; (5) established equivalent, 2 data or 1.60%; (6) literal translation, 9 data or 7.30%; (7) couplets, 56 data or 45.50%; (8) triplets, 12 data or 9.76%; and (9) quadruplets, 9 data or 7.30%. The result of the raters’ assessments displays 65.04% accurate, 34.15% less accurate and 0.80% not accurate. In term of translation acceptability, 78% of the data analyzed is acceptable, 21.10% less acceptable and 0.80% not acceptable. It is recommended that in employing the language style in the TT, the translator should present the more acceptable language variety according to the appropriateness of text genre. Hence, the translators have to adjust the dictions and the pattern of formal language. The mistakes on language style selection affect the acceptability of the translation.
