PEMBUATAN KOMPOSIT LEMPUNG/KITOSAN-VANILIN DAN UJI ADSORPSI TERHADAP ION LOGAM Fe

Research about preparation of composite clay/chitosan-vanillin and adsorption test of metal ions Fe has been conducted. The aims of this study were to investigate the effect of vaniline addition in composite clay/chitosan (KC) on adsorption of metal ions Fe and to determine type of isotherm and kinetic adsorption models. Clay/chitosan-vaniline composite (KCV) was prepared by adding vaniline into clay/chitosan composite (KC) with various of vaniline mass. KCV composites were characterized by Fourier Transform Infra Red spectroscopy (FTIR), and cation exchange capacity (CEC) measurements. The adsorption test of KC and KCV composite as adsorbent agent was determined at pH 5 with various initial concentration and contact time. The FTIR spectra of KCV composite showed existance of imine absorption peak in range 1655 cm-1 are indicate that chitosan vaniline bound was formed. The presence of vaniline substitution in clay/chitosan-vaniline composite (KCV) incresed of CEC value and also had higher adsorption capacity value (qe) for uptake of metal ions Fe. The adsorption behaviour on Fe ion , both of adsorbent agent agreed very well with the Langmuir isoterm and the adsorption kinetic correlated Ho’s law with pseudo-second order.
