Teaching Vocabulary By Using Games And Pictures To The Fourth Grade Students Of Sd Muhammadiyah 22 Sruni Surakarta

This final project report is written based on the job training done by the writer in SD Muhammadiyah 22 Sruni Surakarta for two months. The writer focused on teaching vocabulary by using games and pictures to the fourth grade students. The objectives of this report are to describe the process of teaching vocabulary, to find out the problems, to give solutions to the problems faced during the process of teaching vocabulary and to describe the result of teaching vocabulary by using games and pictures. Before teaching the students, the writer did class observation and made lesson plan. Then, there were several steps in the process of teaching vocabulary, i.e.: greeting, warming up, presentation, practice and closing. Besides, there were several problems faced by the writer, i.e.: remembering vocabulary, having mispronunciation and getting bored of the lesson. To solve the problems, there were several solutions applied by the writer. They were: giving reward and punishment, doing repetition, making a deal and singing a song. Moreover, the writer also used games and pictures in the process of teaching vocabulary to the fourth grade students. In grade IVA the writer used pictures, and then in grade IVB the writer used games. In every daily exercise between grade IVA and IVB, this could result in different scores. The average scores of grade IVA were lower than that of grade IVB. It can be concluded that teaching vocabulary by using games resulted in higher scores than teaching vocabulary by using pictures to the fourth grade students of SD Muhammadiyah 22 Sruni Surakarta.
