This research aims to describe: 1) the reason of the woman’s resistance to the grandnarratives of marriage; 2) the process of the woman’s resistance to the grandnarratives of marriage; 3) the implication of the resistance to the grandnarratives on the women’s perception about the idea of marriage. The method used was the descriptive-qualitative employing the hermeneutic activity through the film semiotics to analyze the data; while Giddens’ structuration theory used as a grand theory to reveal the research problems. The discussion results that the authority of the grandnarratives of the marriage institution, has positioned women as the unrecognized entity. Therefore, the truth of the grandnarratives is in question and resisted. Despite the alienation and uncertainty which mark the postmodern moments during the resistance, the more acceptable truth is attained, that is by redefining the truth on the value of companionship and complimentariness. At last, the implication of the resistance certainly recommends women to be an active agent of change in attempts to fight for the more acceptable truth out of the authority of the grandnarratives, particularly of the marriage institution.
