The mass media is often regarded as an effective instrument of power because it has the ability to attract and direct attention, persuade opinions and assumptions, influence the selection decisions in society, image building, forming status and legitimacy, as well as building the perception of social reality. With its potential, making the mass media sometimes occupy a vital potential. The mass media has the capability to make someone to figure electable, popular, raising the perception and image, as well as make one candidate commendable. Besides, the media are also capable of doing the opposite. He can punish a candidate for mayor to drop the image and instilling negative perceptions of candidates. Taking into account the above, it is no wonder that before the election, the candidate concerned did not hesitate to spend the cost of tens of millions of dollars in order to perform imaging through the mass media. Framing analysis has the ability to explain the same problem to look different when in the construction media. An event can be described in various ways by the media, so as to leave the impression of a wide range of audiences. In the political arena, especially during local election campaign, people would often discuss, think about, and to some extent will affect the political choices taken by the news media and the information displayed. Thus, this study aims to give an idea of how the press reported political communication between pairs of mayoral candidate during the election campaign of Solo in 2010. In a practical level will be seen how the media portray relations and political communication between each pair of mayor and deputy mayor. The conclusions drawn in this study is that daily newspapers Joglosemar wanted to be a reference to the media, especially in the area of Surakarta, by developing meaningful advocacy journalism journalism has alignments to all parties at all levels of society.
