Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension In Narrative Text By Using Kwl ( A Classroom Action Research At The Eighth Grade Of Smp Negeri 1 Jaten, Karanganyar In Academic Year 2012/2013)

The Research Was Conducted From May To June 2013, Which Consists Of
Two Cycles. Cycle One Consists Of Four Meetings And Cycle Two Consits Of Three
Meetings. Each Cycle Had Five Steps: Identifying The Problem, Planning The Action,
Implementing The Action, Observing The Action, And Reflecting The Action. The
Research Data Were Collected By Using Techniques Of Observation, Interview, Field
Note, And Test (Pre-Test And Post-Test).
The Research Findings Show That Kwl Could Improve Students’ Reading
Comprehension And Classroom Situation. The Improvements Of The Students’
Reading Comprehension Are: (1) The Students Were Could Find The Main Idea, (2)
They Could Find The Explicit Information, (3) They Could Find The Implicit
Information, (4) They Could Explaining The Meaning Of The Word, (5) And They
Could Find The Reference.
The Improvements Of Classroom Situation Are: (1) The Students Pay
Attention To The Teacher’s Explanation; (2) The Students Are Enthusiatic In Learning
Process; (3) The Students Are Brave To Ask When They Don’t Understand The Teachers’
Explanation; (4) The Activity Makes The Students Focus; (5) The Students Can Be
Active, So They Were Not Sleepy.
From The Result Above, It Could Be Concluded That Kwl Could Improve
Students’ Reading Comprehension And Improve The Class Situation.
