Analysis Of Requestive Utterances In The Dialogues Of The Film Entitled August Rush And Its Implementation In Teaching Speaking At The Second Grade Of Junior High School

This Research Is A Descriptive Qualitative Research. The Source Of Data Is The Dialogue Of The Movie Entitled “August Rush”. The Data Of The Research Are The Dialogues Of The Movie Which Contain Requestive Utterance. The Objectives Of This Research Are 1) To Describe The Contexts Of Requestive Utterances Uttered By The Characters In The Movie Entitled “August Rush”, 2) To Identify The Types Of Requestives Used By The Characters In The Movie Entitled “August Rush”, The Researcher Adopts The Requestive Utterances Based On Tsui’s Classification. The Researcher Found 32 Requestive Utterances Used By The Character In The Movie. All Of The Thirty Two Requestive Utterances Are Analyzed. The Result Of This Research Are 1) The Requestive Utterances In The Dialogue Of A Movie Entitled “August Rush” Have Their Own Contexts Which Help The Addressee To Understand The Meaning Of Each Utterance, 2) There Are Five Types Of Requestive In Tsui’s Theory. They Are, ‘Offer’, ‘Request For Permission’, ‘Invitation’, ‘Request For Action’, And ‘Proposal’. All Of Those Types Of Requestive Utterances Are Used In The Dialogue Of Movie Entitled “August Rush”. The Contributions Of This Research To Teaching And Learning Activity Are, 1) The Requestive Utterances Can Be Used In Classroom’s Interaction, And 2) The Requestive Utterances Can Also Be Used As A Teaching Materials.
