The research uses philosophical approach to analyze the idea of love of the love stories.
Philosophical approach is an approach which concerns with what literary work teaches and
what significant values or messages delivered through the work. To support the analysis,
there is an explanation of the relation between philosophy and other intrinsic aspects as
well.
From the analysis, it is discovered that the idea of love expressed by Hemingway is that
people must fight for their true love, although there is difficult situation and their must
sacrifice everything even though they must betray their country by escaping the army to
have a perfect life with their love. Hemingway managed to tell the story with beautiful
rhythm and it is mixed together with the plot. Hemingway’s stories follow the love genre’s
pattern in arranging plot, while at same time, it can maximize other aspects in building the
story.
