Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Kombinasi Ekstrak Daun Salam (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight.) Walp) dan Kulit Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) terhadap Bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis

INTISARI
Daun salam dan kulit rambutan mengandung beberapa senyawa aktif yang memiliki efek antibakteri yang dapat menyembuhkan penyakit infeksi akibat bakteri diantaranya senyawa flavonoid, tanin, dan saponin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri kombinasi ekstrak daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight.) Walp) dan kulit rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis.    
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan sampel koloni Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis. Ekstrak daun salam dan kulit rambutan diperoleh dengan maserasi menggunakan alkohol 70% kemudian dikombinasikan. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi cara sumuran dengan konsentrasi yaitu 60%:40%, 50%:50%, dan 40%:60%. Konsentrasi ekstrak dimasukkan ke dalam tiap lubang sumuran 6 mm dalam media MHA yang telah diinokulasi suspensi bakteri kemudian diinkubasi selama 24 jam dan diamati besarnya diameter zona hambat. Data selanjutnya dianalisa dengan SPSS 17.0 menggunakan One-way ANOVA.
Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi ekstrak daun salam dan kulit rambutan memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis dengan diameter daya hambat terbesar masing-masing yaitu 9,6 mm dan 8,7 mm yang keduanya pada konsentrasi 60%:40%. Hasil analisa menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan aktivitas antibakteri yang signifikan antar konsentrasi kombinasi ekstrak daun salam dan kulit rambutan kecuali dengan kontrol Ciprofloxacin terdapat perbedaan aktivitas antibakteri yang signifikan terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis.

ABSTRACT
Bay leaves and rambutan peels contain several active compounds that have antibacterial effects that can cure diseases caused by bacterial infection such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. The aims of this research is to identify the antibacterial activity of extracts combination of bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight.) Walp) and rambutan peels (Nephelium lappaceum L.) towards Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria.
This study was experimental research using colonies of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Bay leaves and rambutan peels extract were obtained by using maceration of alcohol 70%, and it was combined. Antibacterial activity test using diffusion method with concentration of 60%:40%, 50%:50%, and 40%:60%. The extract concentration were inserted into each hole which diameter was 6 mm in MHA media that have been inoculated with bacterial suspensions, then it was incubated for 24 hours. After that, the inhibition zone diameter was observed. The data was analyzed with SPSS 17.0 using One-way ANOVA.
The results showed that the extracts combination of bay leaves and rambutan peels had antibacterial activity towards Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis in which the largest inhibition diameter were 9.6 mm and 8.7 mm. It were both at a concentration of 60%:40%. The analysis showed that there were no significant differences between the antibacterial activity of the combination concentration of bay leaves and rambutan peels extract except with control of Ciprofloxacin there were significant differences between the antibacterial activity towards Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria.
