Perbedaan Upper Limb dan Lower Limb Exercise Terhadap Nilai VO2 Max dan Fat-Free Mass Penderita Ppok Stabil

ABSTRAK
Exercise intolerance merupakan salah satu faktor utama yang menyebabkan keterbatasan aktifitas kehidupan sehari-hari pada penderita pentakit paru obstruktif kronik (PPOK). Penipisan fat-free mass (FFM) berkontribusi secara signifikan terhadap kelemahan otot skeletal dan gangguan kapasitas latihan penderita PPOK. Exercise training mampu memperbaiki nilai VO2 max dan FFM. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan perbaikan nilai VO2 max dan FFM antara upper limb dan lower limb exercise training pada penderita PPOK.
Penelitian ini merupakan clinical experimental research dengan analisis komparatif parameter pre dan post tes antara kelompok A – dengan protokol upper limb exercise training dan kelompok B - dengan protokol lower limb exercise training. Subjek merupakan pasien rawat jalan di Rumah sakit Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. Outcome penelitian ini adalah VO2 maxdan FFM pre dan post perlakuan selama 6 minggu.
Kelompok upper maupun lower limb exercise training mengalami peningkatan VO2 max (p=0,000) dan FFM (p=0,000) secara signifikan. Perbedaan VO2 max (p=0,442) dan FFM (p=0,241) antara kedua kelompok tidak berbeda signifikan.
Tidak ada perbedaan secara signifikan nilai VO2 max dan fat-free mass setelah latihan antara upper limb training dan lower limb training penderita PPOK.

ABSTRACT
Exercise intolerance is one of the main factors limiting participation in activities of daily living among individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Depletion of fat-free mass (FFM) significantly contributes to decreased skeletal muscle weakness and impaired exercise capacity in patients with COPD. Exercise training may improve VO2 max and FFM value. The aim of this study was to compare the improvement of VO2 max and FFM value between upper limb and lower limb exercise training of COPD patients.
This study was an clinical experimental research involving the comparative analysis of pre and post test parameters between two groups treated Group A – with upper limb exercise training protocol and Group B – with lower limb exercise training protocol. Subjects were outpatients with COPD  in Moewardi Hospital Surakarta. Outcome measurement such VO2 max and FFM were assessed pre intervention and post intervention after six weeks.
Both of upper and lower limb exercise training  group had significantly increased in VO2 max (p=0,000) and FFM (p=0,000). The VO2 max (p=0,442) and FFM (p=0,241) difference among the groups was not significant.
There were no significant difference in VO2 max and fat-free mass value after exercise among upper limb exercise and lower limb exercise.
