The Impact of Everyone is A Teacher Here (ETH) Strategy to Teach Speaking From The Perspective of Students’ Self-Actualization (An Experimental Study at the Eleventh Grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2014/2015)

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research are to reveal whether: (1) Everyone is a
Teacher Here (ETH) strategy is more effective than Expository Teaching
strategy to teach speaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo in the
Academic Year of 2014/2015; (2) The students having high self-actualization
have better speaking skill than those having low self-actualization at the eleventh
grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2014/2015; and (3) There
-actualization in
teaching speaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo in the Academic
Year of 2014/2015.
The research method was experimental research. The research was
conducted at SMAN 6 Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. The
population of the research was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 6
Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. There were 6 classes consisting of
195 students. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling. The class
XI IPS-3 was used as the experimental class and class XI IPS-2 as the control
class. The instruments of collecting data were self-actualization questionnaire
and speaking test. The two instruments were valid and reliable after both were
tried out. The data then were analyzed by using ANOVA 2x2 and continued by
using Tukey test.
The result of data analysis shows that: (1) Everyone is a Teacher Here
(ETH) strategy is more effective than Expository Teaching strategy to teach
speaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo; (2) The students who
have high self-actualization have better speaking skill than those who have low
self-actualization at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo; and (3) There is
-actualization in
teaching speaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo.
Based on the result of the research, this research implies that teaching
strategies have a strong effect implementation of
Everyone is a Teacher Here (ETH) strategy gives greater effect than Expository
Teaching strategy in teaching speaking. It is hoped that the result of the study
can be useful for the teachers to determine appropriate teaching strategy for their
students.
