Perbedaan Kualitas Tidur dan Tingkat Kecemasan Antara Wanita Dewasa Awal yang Mengikuti Pilates dengan yang Tidak Mengikuti Pilates di RPM Body Fitness Surakarta

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Women are more likely to experience sleep disturbances and anxiety, it is related to hormonal fluctuations such as puberty and menopause as well as the least physical activity. Poor sleep quality and high levels of anxiety can decrease quality of life and increase mortality. Pilates is a physical training and mind training that can improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety level. This study aims to find differences in sleep quality and anxiety level in young adult women who practiced Pilates and didn’t practiced Pilates.
Methods: It was an observational analytic with cross sectional study that located at RPM Body Fitness Surakarta and around Kelurahan Manahan Surakarta. The samples were 30 young adult women who practiced Pilates at least eight weeks and 30 young adult women who didn’t practice Pilates. The independent variable was Pilates and the dependent variables were sleep quality and anxiety level. Data were analyzed statistically by the Chi-Square test, and p < 0.05 was chosen as the minimal level of significance.
Results: Results showed the median (minimum – maximum) of sleep qualiy on the Pilates group was 4.00 (3 – 7) and non Pilates group was 6.00 (3 – 9), p < 0.001. The anxiety level on the Pilates group was 20.00 (13 – 24) and non Pilates group was 21,50 (19 – 30), p = 0.002.
Conclusions: There are differences of sleep quality and anxiety level onyoung adult women who practice Pilates and who don’t practice Pilates at RPM Body Fitness Surakarta. Young adult women who practice Pilates have better sleep quality and lower anxiety levels compared with women who don’t practice Pilates.
