ABSTRAK
Penelitian yang berjudul “Diskursus Kepemimpinan dalam Film The
King’s Speech Karya Tom Hooper” ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui,
memahami, dan mendeskripsikan kejelasan diskursus kepemimpinan Raja George
VI yang menginspirasi Tom Hooper dalam membuat film The King’s Speech, (2)
mengetahui, memahami, dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana konstruksi diskursus
kepemimpinan Raja George VI dalam film The King’s Speech karya Tom Hooper,
dan (3) mengetahui, memahami, dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana implikasi
diskursus kepemimpinan Raja George VI dalam film The King’s Speech karya
Tom Hooper terhadap kepemimpinan Inggris pada umumnya.
Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam wilayah ilmu Kajian Budaya dengan
metode analisis data kualitatif dan teknik analisis data secara deskriptif dan
interpretatif yang menggunakan pendekatan hermeneutik. Penelitian ini
menggunakan metode tekstual dengan studi dokumen dan studi kepustakaan
sebagai metode pengumpulan data. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini,
yaitu teori wacana Michel Foucault sebagai teori utama dengan dibantu teori
semiotika komunikasi visual Umberto Eco
Terdapat tiga hasil penelitian pada penelitian ini, yaitu pertama, sebab
terjadinya diskursus kepemimpinan Raja George VI yang menginspirasi Tom
Hooper dalam membuat film The King’s Speech menghasilkan terciptanya
hegemoni. Kedua, proses konstruksi diskursus kepemimpinan Raja George VI
dalam film The King’s Speech karya Tom Hooper adalah dari ideal menjadi
humanis. Ketiga, implikasi diskursus kepemimpinan Raja George VI dalam film
The King’s Speech karya Tom Hooper terhadap kepemimpinan Inggris pada
umumnya menghasilkan sebuah buku yang berjudul “The King's Speech: How
One Man Saved the British Monarchy” (2010) karya Mark Logue dan Peter
Conradi.

ABSTRACT
This research entitled “The Discourse of Leadership in The King’s Speech
Film by Tom Hooper” aims on (1) to know, to understand, to describe the
discourse of leadership King George VI inspiring Tom Hooper in make The
King’s Speech film, (2) to know, to understand, to describe how the construction
of the discourse of leadership King George VI in The King’s Speech film by Tom
Hooper, and (3) to know, to understand, to describe how the implication of the
discourse of leadership King George VI in The King’s Speech film by Tom
Hooper on the Britain leadership generally.
This research was conducted in the Cultural Studies field with qualitative
data analysis methods and data analysis techniques descriptively and
interpretatively using hermeneutic approach. This research uses textual with
documents and literature studies as method of data collection. The theory that
used in this research, namely Michel Foucault’s discourse theory and Umberto
Eco’s visual communication semiotics theory.
There are three of the research results on this research, namely first, the
cause of the discourse of leadership King George VI inspiring Tom Hooper in
make The King’s Speech film resulting the creation of hegemony. Second, the
construction of the discourse of leadership King George VI in The King’s Speech
film by Tom Hooper is from idealist into humanism. Third, the implication of the
discourse of leadership King George VI in The King’s Speech film by Tom
Hooper on the Britain leadership generally resulting a book entitled “The King's
Speech: How One Man Saved the British Monarchy” (2010) by Mark Logue and
Peter Conradi.
