Teaching English to The Third Graders of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Karim Colomadu

This final project report is written based on the job training at Madrasah IbtidaiyahNurulKarimColomadu. The objectivesareto describe the teaching process in the classroom, to know the difficulties encountered by the teacher (the writer), and to provide the solutions to the problems encountered by the teacher in teaching the studentsof Madrasah IbtidaiyahNurulKarim. During the job training, I taught the third graders of Madrasah IbtidaiyahNurulKarim. Before I taught the students in the classroom, I prepared the material by making a lesson plan. Then, I appliedsome procedures in teaching process, namely: Greeting, Ice breaking, Explaining the material, Assessment, and Closing. For supporting the process, I used the combination methods i.e.Grammar Translation Method and Direct Method.During the teaching process, I faced some problems, such as the students who were not interested in English lesson, the difficulties of handling the students, broken facility (LCD projector), and lesson time was out of schedule. It can be concluded that there are two steps in the teaching process. They are preparing the material by making a lesson plan and teaching process in the classroom by following the procedures that have been mentioned above. By making the lesson plan and following the procedures, the teaching process was more effective andthe material could explain effectively.Using the combination methods can make the students learn and understand the material in English more easily. Whereas the solutions to the problems are: I appliedpersonal approach and private lesson to solve the first problem, and then for the second problem I used simple game, and the third one I printed out the pictures to solve the third problem, and finally to solve the last problem I tried to have good communication with the other teachers.
