ABSTRACT
The study was substituting cement with geothermal sludge in context volume to find the most ideal if mortar composition in terms of the compressive strength of the mortar samples. In this research, made 4 variations of mix designs that stirring 1 (100% PC; 0% GS), 2 (90% PC, 10% GS), 3 (80% PC, 20% GS) and 4 (70% PC; 30 % GS). The ratio weight between the PC and the sand is 1: 2.75 with cement water factor approaching 0.485. The cement that used in this study were Portland cement type I with test specimens were tested at the age of 28 and 56 days.
When viewed in terms of compressive strength, the use of geothermal sludge take effect towards compressive strength mortar samples as evidenced by the correlation value of calculation. Optimal compressive strength known sample of test data with geothermal sludge variation of 20%. In this stirring, compressive strength generated at 27.093 MPa at the age of 28 days mortar and 27.266 MPa at the age of 56 days mortar.
Contributing researchers to the field of education, namely teaching materials produced after this research is a supplement teaching materials on the use of sludge geothermal for partial replacement of cement in terms of the compressive strength of mortar or more details modules for the course Concrete Technology III Semester Study Program Building Techniques UNS on basic 4th competencies in mortar material.
