Pragmatic analysis on implicit directives produced by a classroom teacher in a movie entitled front of the class and its implication in language teaching

Classroom interaction is an important part in learning. Teacher and students must have good communication behaviour in order to gain maximum learning outcome. Teacher as facilitator has to build good communication behaviour by becoming a role model.
research aims at finding out 1) kinds of directives used in teacher – student conversation in movie entitled Front of the class 2) the types of implicit directives found in teacher – student conversation in movie entitled Front of the class 3) the pedagogic implication of this research in language teaching.
This research uses qualitative research that employs descriptive method. The data source of this research is the script of a movie entitled Front of The Class, directed by Peter Werner. The conversation between the teacher and his students are the main data to analyse. The researcher found 26 utterances realized as implicit directives.
The research result shows that : 1) teacher commonly uses the act of Ordering (26.9 %), Urging (19.23 %), Requesting (15.38 %), Forbidding (11.53 %), Warning (7.69 %), Suggesting (7.69%), Instructing (7.69%), Asking (3.84 %) and Dismissing (3.84 %) 2) the language form commonly used are Interrogatives (50 %), Imperatives (30.76%), and Declaratives (19.23%) 3) implicit directives can be used as a tool for communication and learning materials in language teaching.
