English vocabulary teaching process for children at SDN Ngawonggo II Ceper Klaten

ABSTRACT This final project is written based on job training, which has been done by me on February, 2nd 2007 in SDN Ngawonggo II Ceper Klaten. The purpose of this final project are to describe the process of teaching English vocabulary for the children at SDN Ngawonggo II Ceper Klaten, to show the difficulties of teaching English vocabulary faced by the students and the teacher and also give the solution for those difficulties. By observing the class, interviewing to students and directly teaching at the third grade class, I could write the final project report completely. The process of teaching English vocabulary consists of some activities. They are greeting, introducing the material, explanation of the material, exercises and ending the lesson. The materials used by me to teach English vocabulary were taken from “Kreatif Berbahasa Inggris” provided by school. Besides, I also did some activities; one of the activities was game. It is useful for the students to increase the student’s motivation to learn English. During the English teaching vocabulary process, there were some difficulties. The difficulties were related to the problems both the teacher and the students. The problems of the students were memorizing the English words, pronouncing the words and writing English. Meanwhile, the problems of the teacher were big class, uncooperative students and handling the students. I also gave the solution to solve the difficulties. From the discussion in this final project report we could know the importance of teaching English vocabulary to the primary level especially elementary students, because vocabulary is the basic matter in learning English language.
