Efek Jus Brokoli (Brassica Oleracea L. Var. Botrytis L.) terhadap Derajat Kerusakan Sel Hepar Mencit (Mus Musculus) akibat Pemberian Etanol

Abstract: Broccoli (Brassica Oleracea L. Var. Botrytis L.) is widely known for its nutritional value. It contains various vitamins and substances with suggested capacity as antioxidant.

The antioxidative activity of broccoli is presumed to be able to protect cells from oxidative damage. This experiment was designed to examine the antioxidative activity of broccoli juice (Brassica Oleracea L. Var. Botrytis L.) agains ethanol-induced hepatocytes damage. Twenty one mice were divided into 3 groups, designed as Control, Treatment 1 (T1), and Treatment 2 (T2) groups, respectively. Serial concentration of ethanol (15%, 20%, 25%, 30%) was administered orally to mice of group T1 and T2 with the dosage of  0.028 -ml/20 gr.bw. The serial concentration of alcohol was administered to the mice every other two days until the day 9. Simultaneously, broccoli juice with the dosage of 0.2 ml/ 20 gr.bw. was administered orally to T2 group for 9 days. Mice were sacrificed on the day 10. The data were analyzed with Chi-Square test and showed a significant different of hepatocytes damage between T1 and T2 group. We concluded that Broccoli juice showed a potential antioxidative activity against oxidative ethanol-induced hepatocytes damages.
