The Use of Learning Log Through Whatsapp to Impoprove Students’ Reading Comprehension (An Action Research at The First Grade of Smk Negeri 1 Surakarta in The Academicyear of 2017/2018)

ABSTRACT

Many Indonesian students have started to read and learn English skills from their childhood. They read in order to get information. In order to make the reading process is more interesting, there must be some media to be implemented in the classroom. This study describes the use of learning log through Whatsapp to improve students’ reading comprehension. It is aimed to (1) identify how using learning log through Whatsapp improves students’ reading comprehension and (2) identify the difficulties of using learning log through Whatsapp in improving students’ reading comprehension. The research design is an action research. The subject of this study is the first grade of senior high school. The research data were taken from observation, interview, and tests. To analyze it, the researcher used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result shows that learning log through Whatsapp could improve the students’ reading comprehension. The classroom situation was more interesting by using learning log through Whatsapp. The impacts of this study are improving students’ reading comprehension, enhancing students’ active in classroom and students’ have to remember the materials.
