Keterkaitan Penggunaan Pembersih Kewanitaan dengan Kejadian Vaginosis Bakterial

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is a condition which normal vaginal flora (Lactobacillus sp.) replaced by anaerobic/anaerobic facultative bacteria and can cause pregnancies problems. The use of feminine hygiene product is thought to correlate with BV occurrence. This study aimed to prove the relationship between the use of feminine hygiene with BV occurrence in childbearing women age in Surakarta. A cross-sectional research, conducted in all sub-districts in Surakarta on June-October 2017. Data about the usage of feminine hygiene as well as factors related with BV, collected with questionnaires, and BV diagnosis used vaginal swab scored with Nugent’s score. Data statically analyzed with Chi-square test and logistic regression. The research subjects were 128 women of childbearing age in Surakarta, between 15-39 years old. The analysis result showed feminine hygiene usage (OR=1,453; CI 95%=0,515-4,095; p=0,480) and usage frequency (OR=0,463; CI 95%=0,134-1,602; p=0,224) were not related with BV occurrence. In conclusion, feminine hygiene usage was not correlated with the BV occurrence in childbearing age women in Surakarta.
