A Content Analysis On “Bahasa Inggris” An English Textbook For The Twelfth Grade Of Senior High School 2018

ABSTRACT

    The objective of this research were to identify: 1) whether the English textbook “Bahasa Inggris” has applied the scientific approach of 2013 Curriculum or not and 2) to what extent the scientific approach based on 2013 Curriculum  could be implemented  with the English Textbook “Bahasa Inggris” .
    This research was a descriptive qualitative research. In this research, the researcher used documentary analysis as the data collection technique because of the subject of this research was “Bahasa Inggris” textbook which is published by Ministry of Education and Culture for twelfth grade senior high school as the main data. There were 5 chapters which were chosen as the samples by considering the number of activities. The data were presented in five tables to determine the types of activities and their compatibility with Scientific Approach of 2013 Curriculum. The data were analyzed using content analysis involving unitizing, sampling, coding, reducing data, inffering contextual phenomena, and narrating the answer to research questions.
    The finding of the research is that the textbook has not completely applied the Scientific Approach of 2013 Curriculum.The compatibility of Scientific Approach of 2013 Curriculum developed in the “Bahasa Inggris” textbook is 68%. Based on SuharsimiArikunto (1998: 246), the textbook is good viewed from compatibility with scientific approach of 2013 Curriculum.
