An analysis of techniques and quality of translation of verb-adverb combinations colloquial expressions in the movie entitled GBF

This research is conducted to analyze the translation technique and quality of translation of verb-adverb combinations colloquial expressions in the movie entitled “GBF.” The objectives of this research are to find out : (1) the translation techniques used by the translator to translate colloquial expression in the form of verb-adverb combinations in the subtitles film entitled GBF, (2) the quality of translation of verb-adverb combinations colloquial expressions in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability, (3) the degree of formality of translation in the form of verb-adverb combinations of colloquial expressions in the movie subtitle in the movie entitled GBF. There are 61 data of verb-adevrb combinations colloquial expressions. This research employs descriptive qualitative method. The data source consists of documents and informants. The methods of data collection are content analysis, focus group discussion (FGD), and questionnaire. The data analysis reveals that there are 9 different translation techniques applied by the translator in translating verb-adverb combinations of colloquial expressions in the movie. The second finding points out that the level of the accuracy, acceptability, and readability is relatively high. The last finding is that in terms of formality degree, colloquial expressions in both source and target text has same degree, and most of colloquial expressions translated in the same form of colloquial expressions in both languages.
