Learning Public Speaking Skills from an Ethnographical Perspective in Kampung Inggris

This research aims to explore how the application of public speaking at an English course in Pare, Kediri, East Java. This research is a qualitative research in the form of ethnography study on English course in Pare, Kediri, East Java. The participants of this research are the teacher and students from a public speaking class of English courses in Pare, Kediri, East Java. The data are obtained through a triangulation source of data and a triangulation of collecting data. The findings of the research indicate that a) “Daffodils” English course in Pare has an intensive programme, supportive environment and unique system learning which is adopted from Kalend’s teaching and toastmaster international speaking club. b) The implementation of public speaking at “Daffodils” English course in Kampung Inggris has two objectives which are general objectives and specific objectives. The procedures of the learning process of public speaking class at Daffodils” English course in Kampung Inggris results an introductory activities, the main activities and the concluding activites. “Daffodils” English Course uses Community Language Learning (CLL) and suggestopedia as their teaching methods. c) Public speaking in “Daffodils” English course could raise the pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency and confident to learners in speaking skill
