This research focuses on analysis of translation techniques applied in  translating dysphemism expressions in The Hangover movie and the quality of translation in terms of accuracy and acceptability. The purposes of this research are: (1) to find out the types of dysphemism expression and to identify the translation techniques applied by the translator in translating dysphemism expressions found in The Hangover movie; and (2) to find out the impact of the use of translation techniques towards the quality of dysphemism expressions translation in terms of accuracy and acceptability.
This research was descriptive-qualitative research by using purposive  sampling technique. The data are all dysphemism expressions found in the movie entitled The Hangover. The source of data is The Hangover movie and the raters scoring in analyzing the quality of translation. The total data found in the movie are 150 data. The analysis on the translation technique shows that there are 9 techniques  applied by the translator in translating dysphemism expressions which are; adaptation, established equivalent, amplification, reduction, generalization, literal translation, discursive creation, toning down and omission. The researcher used the theory proposed by Molina and Albir (2002) and Zawada (2010). In this research, the researcher found 6 types of dysphemism expressions; taboo term, profane swearing or profane oaths, comparisons people with animals, dysphemistic epithets, imprecations and epithets invoking mental sub normality, and terms of insult or disrespect. The research findings indicate that the techniques which produce the high
level of accuracy in translation of dysphemism expressions are adaptation and established equivalent. It happens because the translator translated the meaning or the message in ST conveyed into TT without any distortion meaning and the both expressions have the same concept. Meanwhile, the techniques which produce the low level of accuracy in translation of dysphemism expressions are omission. The use of adaptation technique gives positive effect on the acceptability term. It happens because the translator uses equivalent expressions in Indonesian which are familiar, commonly and appropriately used by the audiences.  Meanwhile, the technique which gives bad effect to the level of acceptability of the data is omission technique.
