Improving Students’ Writing Skill Through Guided Writing Technique (A Classroom Action Research at the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Purwantoro in the academic year of 2014/2015).

These research purposes are to find out the effectiveness of Guided Writing technique in improving the students’ writing skill. Besides that, it is used to know whether guided writing technique could change the students’ opinion in the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Purwantoro in the academic year of 2014/2015.
Classroom action research was used in this research. The action research was
conducted in two cycles. Every cycle of action research consisted of four stages, they are: planning, Acting, Observing, Reflecting and the second cycle was the revision of the previous step but the implementation was followed the previous cycle of action research. To collect the data, the researcher used many techniques such as test, interview, observation, field note, questionnaire, and photographs. The test conducted was pre-test and post-test. The researcher analyzed the quantitative data by analyzing the  mean  score  of  the  test.  While,  the  qualitative  data  was  analyzed  by  using assembling the data, coding the data, comparing the data, building the interpretation, and reporting the outcomes.
The  result  of  the  research  shows  that  Guided  Writing  Technique  can effectively improve the students’ writing skill and their opinion. The improvement of the students’ writing skill can be seen from the result of the students test score. The mean score of the test result is 61.57 for pre-test, 71.16 for post-test 1, and 79.20 for post-test 2.
On the other hand, guided writing could change the students’ opinion. The
result showed that 93.75% agreed guided writing could improve the students’ understanding.  Besides  that,  90.63%  agreed  that  guided  writing  didn’t  make  the students confused. Next, 93.75% of the students agreed that guided writing could help the students in constructing the sentences and 87.5% of the students agreed that guided writing could increase the students’ idea. The last, 90.63% of the students
thought that this technique could increase the students’ vocabulary.
