Lasvita Web-Based Learning : Teaching Writing Skill Viewed from Students’ Creativity (An Experimental Research at High School in 2017/2018)

ABSTRACT

This research aims to find out whether : (1) Lasvita more effective than PowerPoint in teaching writing in the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 DURENAN in the academic year of 2017/2018; (2) The students who have high creativity have better writing skill than those having low creativity; and (3) There is an interaction between teaching media and students’ creativity in teaching.

This is an experimental research that was conducted at even semester of tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Durenan Trenggalek. The samples of this research were two classes namely experimental which was taught using Lasvita and control class which was taught using PowerPoint. The sample was obtained by implementing cluster random sampling technique. Each class was divided into two groups of which each consisted of students who have high creativity and those who has low creativity. The data of this research were obtained from writing test to find out students’ writing score and creativity test to find out students’ creativity score. Then, the data were analyzed by using Multifactor Analysis of Variance ANOVA 2x2 and Tukey test. Before conducting the ANOVA test, the researcher conducted   pre-requisite test namely normality and homogeneity test. The research findings reveals that: (1) Lasvita is more effective than PowerPoint to teach writing; (2) The students having high creativity have better writing skill than those having low creativity; and (3) There is an interaction between teaching media and students’ creativity in teaching writing.

The result of this study indicates that Lasvita is an effective teaching media for teaching writing. However, in using Lasvita to teach writing, the teacher needs to have enough preparation when implements it at class effectively. Also, students should be more active and wisely choose mobile for useful activities that can support their learning.
