ABSTRACT
This final report was written based on my internship program at Keris Nusantara and Radyapustaka Museum. It started from January 6 and finished on March 6, 2020. The objectives of this final report are to describe the process of providing English subtitles in Kris production video at Keris Nusantara Museum.
The main activitiy I did during the internship was providing the English- language subtitles in Kris production video at Keris Nusantara Museum. I also did the additional activities such as guiding, managing the front desk administration, creating promotional videos, editing the structure of sentences in the storylines, and translating two books collection; Pawukon and the history of Rajamala. I applied three steps of the translation process, 1) Analyzing, 2) Transferring, and 3) Restructuring the source text. I used Aegisub Software to insert the subtitles and also used a CAT tool, Matecat to get time efficiency.
There were several problems faced during translating process such as bad internet connection, lack of computer facilities, lack of vocabulary about Kris and Javanese language. To solve those problems were using tethering from my personal smartphone or went outside of the museum to find a good Wi-Fi signal, bringing laptop every day, and reading some books or articles from the internet or in the museum’s library.
