Lesson plan is a guide for teacher. It is usually made before teaching in the classroom. In Indonesia, teacher should make a lesson plan before teaching in the classroom. The objectives of this research were to examine student teachers’ perception in writing and arranging a lesson plan and how they implement it in teaching. The researcher used in-depth inteview to collect the data of this research. The participants of this research were five undergraduate students of English Education Department in Teacher Training Faculty who had ever taught at an internship school with the average age of around 21-23 years old. The finding revealed that lack of knowledge influenced the way student teachers wrote their lesson plans to produce an acceptable lesson plan that was suitable to be used. It also required quite a long and complicated experience and process. However, the good and bad quality of lesson plans could not change the fact that lesson plan can be used to teach in class. As the implication, writing a lesson plan was beneficial for teacher-to-be in promoting teacher’s idea, creativity, innovation, and also ability to develop learning models that were interesting for students
