American Dream has lived in the American society since the idea first appeared.  Nevertheless, the public confidence about the American Dream was declining together with the election and inauguration of President Donald Trump. Thus, this research is conducted to reveal how the American Dream is represented in Michael Gracey’s The Greatest Showman (2017) movie released in the early moments of Trump's presidency. This research also seeks how this movie endorses the spirit of the American Dream and romanticizes it for the audiences. This research is designed as descriptive-qualitative research for collecting and analyzing the data. The primary data are taken from The Greatest Showman movie. While the secondary data are taken from online articles and news that discuss the film and the idea of the American Dream. The finding of the research is discussed using Roland Barthes’s semiotic theory and interpretive critical paradigm as the approaches. The analysis of this movie shows that the idea of the American Dream is expressed in the achievement of material ownership, higher social status, and reputation. This movie also endorses the spirits of the American dream which are hard work, self-reliance, and equality of opportunity. At the same time, this movie romanticizes the American Dream as a strategy to revive the idealism of the American Dream in the American Society.
