This research is also used to compare the mode in advertisement texts of Sanur Paradise Hotel and Suite, and Ayodya Resort Bali published in Tempo magazine, January 16th, 2007 and December 11th, 2006. The researcher applies “teknik pustaka“ since the data are collected from the written resources. From the data analysis, it is found that the texts belong to spoken and written channel. Some elements indicate that the texts belong to spoken channel, and the others belong to written channel. In text I, the tendency of being written and spoken is proved by some characteristics such as, employing dominant simplex clauses, dominant simplex nominal and verbal groups, familiar technicalities, less metaphor and low density. Text I also use personal pronoun such as, ‘your’, ‘our’, etc, repetitions, and description genre. The indication of being spoken and written in text II can be seen from the employment of dominant minor clauses, dominant complex nominal and simplex verbal groups, familiar technicalities, less metaphor and low density, the use of personal pronouns such as, ‘your’, ‘we’, etc, repetitions, and description genre. Furthermore, there are some similarities found in the mode of both texts. Both texts employ the same channels. Those channels are the combination of spoken and written language. It can be seen from the analysis of lexicogrammar, cohesion, text structure, genre, and medium. The use of spoken and written channel in both texts is appropriate with its medium and the readers of the Tempo magazines. On the other hand, both texts also have differences such as, clause system, group system, and theme structure.
