The efforts of tourist information center at DIPARSENIBUD of Surakarta in improving its services

ABSTRACT 2008. This report discusses the strengthens and the weaknesses of Tourist Information Center at DIPARSENIBUD of Surakarta and the efforts to improve its services. Tourist Information Center, the section of DIPARSENIBUD in promoting Surakarta Tourist Objects, plays an important role to increase the number of tourists who visit Surakarta. This report is aimed at describing the strengthens and the weaknesses of Tourist Information Center at DIPARSENIBUD of Surakarta and finding out the efforts which can be conducted by Tourist Information Center at DIPARSENIBUD of Surakarta to improve its services. In order to get some information and data, I take some steps in collecting data of the report, such as by doing observation, interviewing the employees of DIPARSENIBUD of Surakarta finding reference in the library, and browsing internet. The result shows that the strengthens of Tourist Information Center at DIPARSENIBUD of Surakarta are giving the service to the tourists without asking for the cost and having one staff mastering some foreign languages. However, the weaknesses of Tourist Information Center at DIPARSENIBUD of Surakarta are the weakness based on the location, facilities and human resources. The efforts conducted by Tourist Information Center are building a big sign in the edge of Jl. Slamet Riyadi, increasing the number of the supported instrument of touristm information, providing the comfortable room, adding the number of Tourist Information Center staff, improving the ability of Tourist Information Center staff in mastering foreign language and providing Tourist Information Center staff with the knowledge about Surakarta and its surrounding.
