Public relations division at information and communication board of Surakarta City Government

ABSTRACT 2008. This report was written based on the job training. It was conducted at Information and Communication Board of Surakarta City Government. The writer focuses on Public Relations Division to know the role, duties, and the problem of it. The data of the final project report were collected through observation, interview, and literature review. Observation was done to know the happening fact, and interview was done to the head of Public Relations Division. Literature review was done to support the theory of Public Relations. The result shows that Public Relations Division has an important role to the Surakarta City Government, to create good communication between the government and its public. While, Public Relations Division also has some duties: developing a good communication, managing and analyzing public opinion, performing inventory, documentation, photography and record of the government activities and soon. Besides, in doing the duties, Public Relations Division also faced a problem. It was a problem of coordination. In conclusion, Public Relations Division does the role and duties well even though it sometimes faces a problem. However, it does not mean that Public Relations Division fails in doing the role and duties. It should be a motivation to the Public Relations Division to its role and duties better.
