2008. The Implementation of Education Unit Level Curriculum on English Teaching and Learning Process to the 1ST Grade Students in SLTP N 3 Colomadu, Karanganyar. English Diploma Program, Faculty of Letters and Fine Arts, Sebelas Maret University.
This final project report is written based on the job training which has been done by the writer on January, 21st 2008 in SLTP N 3 Colomadu, Karanganyar. The aims are to describe the English teaching and learning process on Education Unit Level Curriculum including the teaching method, the problems of the students and the problems which are faced by the teacher and also the way to solve those problems. The data of this report were collected through observing the class and also directly teaching at the first grade students especially VII E Class. In order to make English teaching and learning process run well, the writer applies some stages. The stages are covering motivation strategies, presentation strategies, skill practices, assessment, and ending the lesson. The writer gave the exercises based on the material such as handbook provided by the school. From the handbook, the students learn 4 Basic English skill, they are reading, speaking, listening and writing. The writer uses Communicative Language Teaching method to familiarize the students with English.
Meanwhile, there are some problems during the English teaching and learning process. The problems are related to the problems of both the teacher and the students. The problems of the students are differentiating the regular and irregular verbs in Simple Past tense, writing English words and no sufficient dictionary. Besides, the problems which are faced by the teacher are the lack of interest, the bad students and also the quality and quantity of the students. The writer also presents the way to solve those problems. The findings of this final project indicate the important details of English teaching and learning process to the 1st grades of Junior High School because English is the first foreign language given for them and this major subject has been examined in the National Examination.
