The role of public relations in PT. Air Mancur Surakarta

ABSTRACT 2008. The aims of this Final Project Report are to describe and explain the roles, the activities, and the strengths and weakness of Public Relations in PT. Air Mancur Surakarta. This is a qualitative report based on job training done by the writer in PT. Air Mancur Surakarta from February 4 to 15. The data of the report were collected through observing the activities of Public Relations and library study. The result shows that the roles of Public Relations in PT. Air Mancur Surakarta are as Corporate Public Relations, Marketing Public Relations and Customer Service. Public Relations in PT. Air Mancur Surakarta has done certain activities for realizing and supporting the roles such as, developing good media contact, giving information about the products for the publics, giving good contribution for the society, and handling the customers’ complaint. The strengths and weakness are therefore identified. The strengths are the Public Relations in PT. Air Mancur has good services to realize their roles and its position under the General Manager makes the Public Relations easier to do coordination. During the job training, the writer notifies a weakness of Public Relations in PT. Air Mancur Surakarta. They tend to be passive to find out the public opinion about their company and services. The writer also gives some suggestions for Public Relations in PT. Air Mancur to improve their services by being more active especially to find out the public opinion and customers’ need and coordinating with other divisions to avoid misunderstanding and technical problem.
