The difficulties in english teaching and learning to the first grade students at SDN Cengklik II Surakarta

ABSTRACT 2008. This final project report is written based on the job training in SDN Cengklik II Surakarta for two months. The writer took the first grade of the elementary school as the object to observe. This final project report has the purpose to describe the difficulties which arise in teaching and learning process. Besides, this report also has the purpose to find out the solutions to the difficulties in teaching and learning English faced by the first grade students, the writer, and the English teacher of SDN Cengklik II Surakarta. The students’ difficulties were spelling and pronunciation of English words. The writer difficulties were limited material, and the students’ noise. Meanwhile, the English teacher difficulty was the non English background knowledge that sometimes affected the pronunciation learning. To solve the students’ difficulties in spelling and pronunciation the English words, they should be more attentive when the teacher pronounces the difficult words and always practice to pronoun it. To solve the writer’s difficulties, she gave assignment or punishment to the students and brought pictures or flashcards. Meanwhile, to solve the English teacher’s difficulty, she should improve the English knowledge.
