Teaching pronunciation to the fifth grade students of SD N Suroteleng II Selo Boyolali

ABSTRACT 2008. This final report project is written based on the job training which has been done by the writer in SD Negeri Suroteleng II, Suroteleng, Selo, Boyolali. The purpose of this final project is to describe the process of teaching pronunciation, the problems that appear in the teaching process and the solutions to the problems. The writer observed the teachers who were teaching in the classroom. She also observed the condition of the class and students habit. The methodology used by the writer was Audio-lingual method. The method was chosen because the students had never been taught English pronunciation before. Pronunciation is related with sounds so audio-lingual is the best method to teach pronunciation. The writer hopes by using this method, the students easily understand the materials and they could do the exercises so they would get good mark in the final examination. The problems that appear during the teaching pronunciation process come from the students, the facilities and materials. Meanwhile, the solutions to those problems require the cooperation in all aspects in the school both teachers and students. The students’ parents also play important part in motivating their children. The facilities and materials can be solved by providing complete tools as the necessity.
