Techniques of teaching vocabulary to the 1st grade students in SD Pangudi Luhur I-II Surakarta

ABSTRACT 2008. Teaching vocabulary holds an essential rule in teaching English in Indonesia. As we know that English is the second language for Indonesian and the importance of mastering English has made government place it into one of the lessons taught in the elementary school. Therefore, English vocabulary is better to be taught as soon as possible and the writer emphases in teaching vocabulary to the first grade of elementary school. This final project uses several methods in collecting the data such as: interview, literature review and observation. In introducing English to the students through vocabulary teaching of the first grade, the writer applies direct method, discipline and fun activities techniques. To know the students understanding about the materials given, the writer gives them exercises which are made by her self taken from many books in printed note forms.
