ABSTRACT 2008. This final project is written based on the job training that had been done by the writer as an English teacher in SDN Pandeyan 2. This final project discusses about the use of pictures in English teaching and learning activities of 3rd grade students in this school. It discusses about the application of using pictures in English teaching and learning activities and how effective using pictures in the process is. The class activities consisted of three steps based on the lesson plan that was made before. They are: warming up that was done to introduce the new materials, presentation in which the writer explained the materials and used pictures to help her in delivering the lesson, and the evaluation to evaluate the students learning and the writer’s way of teaching. The writer found out that using pictures in English teaching and learning activities is effective for several reasons. The reasons are: the pictures help the teacher in explaining the materials and introducing new vocabularies, and pictures also make the teaching and learning activities fun and enjoyable. To improve the quality of English teaching and learning in SDN Pandeyan 2, it is suggested that the school provides supporting factors such as pictures series, flash cards, and colored text book. For the students of English Diploma Program, it is suggested to arrange a job plan before doing a job training to make everything more systematic and easier to do.
