TRANSLATING KRIS DESCRIPTION, CREATING BILINGUAL CONTENT, AND MAKING ENGLISH SUBTITLE TO SUPPORT DIGITIZATION AT MUSEUM KERIS NUSANTARA

This report was written based on the internship program conducted at Museum Keris Nusantara. The program, was held from February 15th to April 15th, has outputs in the form of kris descriptions translation, bilingual content in the form of videos uploaded to the museum's Instagram, and videos with English subtitles  for the museum's YouTube channel as my main activities. Additional activities carried out during the internship are guiding, conserving kris, helping manage the museum's Instagram, and producing narrative video content that will later be displayed in the museum. In translating kris description, producing bilingual content, and English subtitles I apply a translation process by Nida and Taber analyzing, transferring, and restructuring, as well as applying Netflix standards for subtitle creation. I also used translation technique by Molina and Albir to solved translation problems. The problem encountered during translating are the use of Javanese term, the poor structure of the source language, limited sources of information, and limited tools to support content production. The solution I did was do a research in Javanese term, improve the structure of the source language, use online dictionary, look for literacy the library at Museum Keris Nusantara and the Museum Radya Pustaka, conduct interviews with museum conservators, and optimizing existing production tools. From the Internship program at Museum Keris Nusantara I learned about the kris culture and also learned many lessons related to the industry.
