Marisa Istyana Balqist, 2022. Making and Editing Bilingual Descriptions about Kris at Museum Keris Nusantara.  English Diploma Program, Sekolah Vokasi, Universitas Sebelas Maret.

This Internship Report was written based on the internship program at Museum Keris Nusantara which is located at Jl. Bhayangkara No.2, Sriwedari, Laweyan, Kota Surakarta, Jawa Tengah 57141 and took place on February 15th, 2022 to April 15th, 2022. This internship program is carried out to meet the graduation requirements of English Diploma Program students and aims to apply what has been taught in lectures for three years, namely the application of translating and editing skills. Apart from this, this internship program aims to describe the activities carried out in the internship institution and the challenges encountered during the two-month internship at Museum Keris Nusantara. During the internship period, I produced some descriptions in two languages (Indonesian and English) in which there were translation processes occurred. On the other hand, I also edited the existing Indonesian descriptions before they were translated, and I also created a bilingual historic article about one of the Balinese Kris belonging to a nobleman. There were also some activities that unrelated with my previous courses, namely kris management, such as performing the process of caring for the kris before it is displayed. I had some obstacles or challenges when did the internship activities, especially when I translated kris descriptions as most of the basic information about kris were in Javanese. So, I really needed to learn about kris and the equivalent of Javanese words I found, then made them to Indonesian, and finally translated them into English. There were terms of kris that were already in Kamus Saku Peristilahan Keris (2020), but there were also those that did not exist yet, so I must find the right equivalent words by analyzing, discussing with friends, or asking the museum curator.
