Pengaruh Hypnotherapy Terhadap Kesehatan Mental, Fungsi Fisik, Kebiasaan Makan dan Fungsi Seksual pada Pasien dengan Irritable Bowel Syndrome : Studi Meta-Analisis

ABSTRAK

Background: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a group of symptoms of functional digestive disorders characterized by recurrent abdominal pain with altered defecation patterns without evidence of underlying damage. IBS harms the quality of life and works productivity. One of the physiological interventions for IBS is Hypnotherapy, which is a technique of suggestion or metaphor to imply control and normalization of gastrointestinal function.

Subject and Method: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis carried out by following PICO. The articles used in this study were obtained from four databeses, namely Google Scholar, PubMed, Springerlink, Sciencedirect, and Cochrane Library. Keywords to search articles "Irritable Bowel Syndrome" OR "IBS" AND "Hypnotherapy" OR "Hypnosis" OR "Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy" OR "GHT" OR "Psychotherapy" AND "Quality of life" OR "Mental health" AND "Physical functioning" AND  "Food avoidance"  OR "Eating habits"  AND "Sexual function"  AND "Randomised controlled trial"  OR " RCT". Articles included are full-text English and Indonesia with Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) design from 2000 to 2022 and report Mean and SD in multivariate analysis. Articles selection is done by PRISMA flow diagram. Articles were analyzed using the Review Manager 5.3 application.

Result: A total of 13 study randomized control trial studies from Iran, English, Austria; Sweden, and the Netherlands were are selected for a systematic review and meta-analysis. The data collescted showed that (1) Hypnotherapy affects improving mental health in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and this effect is statistically significant (SMD=1.64; 95% CI=1.00 to 2.28; p<0 SMD=1.64; CI=1.00 SMD=1.32; xss=removed SMD=1.37; xss=removed>

Conclusion: The meta-analysis concluded that there was an effect or influence of hypnotherapy on improving mental health, physical function, eating habits and sexual function in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
