Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) is one of the products traded between countries, but it is still a polemic, especially regarding the risks of consuming GMO products. Not only that, in the trade sector, imports in large quantities of GMOs will clearly cause losses to domestic products, especially in the agricultural sector. This has become even more urgent after the amendment to Law No. 11 of 2020 on Job Creation, one of which removed the import ban provision, as a result this policy can be detrimental and does not reflect efforts to realise food sovereignty in Indonesia. This research is limited to examining the impact of the GMO import regulation in the Job Creation Law. This research is doctrinal legal research with the approach used is a statutory approach and a comparative approach. The results show that the removal of import provisions in the Job Creation Law has an impact on higher GMO imports and does not realise food sovereignty in Indonesia. Therefore, it is important to reconstruct the Job Creation Law by making imports a last resort. Without strict restrictions on the import of GMO products, this will clearly harm the interests of local farmers and not support the food sovereignty movement in Indonesia.
