ABSTRACT
This study aims to: (1) Obtain an overview of the learning process that has been implemented so far in Vocational Schools in the Wonogiri region in order to improve students' critical reasoning abilities, (2) Develop independent curriculum- based E-Book teaching materials for Mathematics to improve reasoning abilities critical thinking skills of Vocational High School students in Wonogiri, (3) Testing the effectiveness of E-Book teaching material products based on the independent curriculum on improving the critical reasoning abilities of Vocational High School students in Wonogiri.
This research and development (RnD) used the Alessi & Trollip development model which consists of three stages, namely: (1) Planning stage, namely: the process of analyzing teaching materials implemented at SMK N 1 Puhpelem, Wonogiri, analysis of critical reasoning abilities SMK students, as well as an analysis of the needs of teachers and students for the types of teaching materials that suit their needs, (2) Design Stage (design) included: material concept, media concept, flowchart design, and syntax, (3) Development Stage (development) included: preparation of product prototypes, expert validation (teaching materials experts, material experts and users), field trials (tests by teachers and trials by students), as well as testing the level of effectiveness of E- Book teaching material products on students' critical thinking abilities.
The results of research and development showed that (1) the teaching materials used during the mathematics learning process at SMK N 1 Puhpelem and SMK N 1 Bulukerto, Wonogiri were not interactive, not varied, and limited to printed teaching materials, (2) E-book teaching materials Based on the Independent Curriculum, it was declared suitable for use as teaching materials, after obtaining an assessment by teaching materials experts with a score of 3.5 out of 4.0, the category was very good, material experts were 3.4 out of 4.0, the category was very good, the teacher's assessment was 3, 5 out of 4.0 the category is very good and the assessment by students (field trials) is 3.1 out of 4.0 in the good category improving students' critical thinking skills at SMK N 1 Puhpelem Wonogiri, with a percentage of N-Gain (%) of 67.5% included in the high impact category or criteria.
